Term 3 - Week 2
Another wet Saturday during the school term meant that some boys missed out on representing the College in their chosen sport. Of those that did get the opportunity to play, there was a mixed bag of results, some boys relishing the opportunity to be on the field while others left a lot to be desired and improved on.
Rugby
Of the games that were able to be played on Breen Oval and at Airey Park, six teams secured wins, while five teams will hopefully learn a lot from their losses. Well done to the 13A, 13B, 13C, 16A, Fifth XV and the Second XV teams on their performances.
We have a big weekend coming up for Rugby, as all teams travel to St Stanislaus’ College in Bathurst. Any boy who does not attend MUST provide a medical certificate. All boys, unless injured or unable to attend due to how the fixtures are structured, should sit on the bench for the next team (for example B players benching for A teams). Rugby is all about not letting your mates down. If you are not injured and do not sit on the bench for the next game, when you are able to, you are letting your mates down.
There are only so many Saturdays in life, you are only able to play rugby for a finite amount of these and to represent your school with your best mates, can only be done a small number of times. Relish the opportunity and work hard for each other.
All boys travelling to Bathurst via bus are to arrive at school no later than 7:00 AM.
Football
Overall, a very successful weekend for SPC Football teams with 17 wins, 3 draws and only 5 losses. A whopping 116 goals for and only 31 against. This does not happen without large amounts of hard work and commitment from all involved. Special mention to Anthony Suriano who scored a goal while making his debut for the First XI. Well done on an outstanding achievement, we look forward to watching you for many years to come.
Reminder
All boys are to wear their College Supporter’s uniform when attending fixtures, this includes the tracksuit, no other brands! Even battler teams like the Wests Tigers and Paramatta Eels manage to show up all in uniform! There will be consequences for those that choose to wear anything other than SPC gear.
