Principals Report

It is wonderful to be back at school with the children and staff for the second half of the year.  We have much to look forward to once again, both in and out of the learning spaces; Learning Conversations, Grandparents’ Mass, Athletics Carnivals, Family Breakfast, Book Week,100 Days of School for Foundation, along with various incursions and excursions to name just a few exciting things that are happening this term.

On Friday we say goodbye to Ms Kayte Runnalls as she prepared for the arrival of ‘baby Runnalls’.  We wish Kayte and Claye the very best as they enter  this new and exciting time in their lives.

We are pleased to announce that Ms. Elli Mestrom will be joining our staff this term as the new foundation teacher, replacing Kayte. Ms. Mestrom brings with her extensive experience from her previous positions at St. Francis Nathalia and St. Joseph's Cobram.  We also welcome two new Learning Support Officers, Mr Lewis McShane and Ms Olivia Allen.  Lewis is currently studying his first year of teaching and Olivia is in her third year of teaching. We are fortunate to have attracted such talented individuals to fill this position. Olivia will start working with us next week.

Learning Conversations will take place next week.  Please make sure you book in via PAM.  Learning conversations are an important part of our reporting process. Please contact your child’s teacher if you were unable to attend.

It has been great to see our students arriving at school with plenty of time to get themselves organised and be ready for the day ahead. Thank you to parents for establishing these vitally important routines. It is essential that a smooth start to the day is established so that our students are given every opportunity to participate fully in their learning. We ask that you continue to ensure that the children arrive on time ready to start their day before the music begins playing at 8:45am. It is interesting to note that even arriving 10 minutes late a day adds up to 50 minutes a week which is equivalent to one and a half weeks of valuable learning time each year. If you do have difficulty getting your child to school at any time, please discuss this with their teachers and we can support you with this.

A very important event on our school calendar is always Grandparents Day. We are looking forward to welcoming grandparents and special visitors on Friday 19th July. The morning will begin with a liturgy at 10.00am, followed by time to visit classrooms and morning tea. I look forward to catching up with everyone.

Have a great week
