A small number of Year 7 and 8 students had the opportunity to participate in Lead the Way Institute's Confident Paws Program. The students had the opportunity to work closely with therapy trained canines and their handlers to learn communication skills that build self confidence. Students practiced these skills whilst interacting with the therapy dogs. Both students and dogs enjoyed the positive interactions throughout the program.

Warrandyte High School has been able to participate in the Breakfast Club Program this term. Each Wednesday morning, the wellbeing staff and 2025 peer support leaders have provided some basic breakfast options to all students as they arrive at school. Fresh apples are also available throughout the week for students to grab and go from designated spots around the school.
As the school continues to support this program, students will have the opportunity to grab snack items to support their lunch choices on Wednesdays.
On 27th November 2025, 17 current Year 9 students will participate in Orientation Training for their upcoming roles as Peer Support Leaders in 2026.
This training provides skills development in leadership, communication, problem solving and conflict resolution. The new Leaders will learn what it takes to support their peers, school community and assist Year 7 students transition into secondary schooling.
Many parents are aware that as of 10th December 2025, the Federal Government is bringing in new legislation around young people's access to social media platforms. This means that for our students under 16 years of age their access to current social media platforms will change and stricter restrictions enforced to ensure that anyone that is not aged 16 years will be unable to access social media.
More information about these restrictions and the ban can be accessed at the E Safety Commissioner Website https://www.esafety.gov.au/about-us/industry-regulation/social-media-age-restrictions?
From 1 January 2026, people aged under 18 can travel free on all Victorian public transport services using a new youth myki card. This includes trams, trains, buses and coach services.
To access free travel, they must tap the myki card on and off each time they travel. For areas that do not use myki cards, they must show their myki card to travel free.
More information about the youth myki card will be available later in Term 4, 2025 – refer to the myki types webpage on the Transport Victoria website. https://transport.vic.gov.au/tickets-and-myki/myki/myki-types
For more information about other travel options to school, and support for eligible students, refer to the Travelling to school webpage on the Victorian Government website.
