Our Learning - Weeks 3 & 4

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL):

*To identify some emotions felt by characters in a story and name their strengths. 

*To identify how strengths can be used to show respect.

*To talk about what feeling afraid or nervous can feel like in our body. 

 

English:

*Revise Heart words and speed sounds with the use of our Chitter Chatter Chant cards.

*To recognise the long /a/ sound, consisting of consonant digraphs ‘ai’ and 'ay', identify words that have a long /a/ sound in them (start/middle/end) and are spelt with the consonant digraphs 'ai' and 'ay'.

*To recognise the long /e/ sound, consisting of consonant digraphs ‘ee’ and 'ea' and identify words that have a long /e/ sound in them and are spelt with the consonant digraphs 'ee' and 'ea'. 

*Explore the parts of a narrative - beginning, middle, end, problem, solution and characters.

*To look at the sentences and interesting words in our picture books.

*To draw a picture and write a recount about their weekend.

*To practise writing narratives.

 

Maths:

*To practise forming digits correctly, review prior learning and revise concepts with our Maths Daily Review.

*To make fair shares and find all the ways to share a starting number. 

*To investigate and compare the mass of different objects.

*To use bucket scales and coat hanger scales to investigate the mass of different objects.  

 

Inquiry:

This term our Inquiry unit is on 'Toys'. We will be looking at current toys and various from the past. At the end of our unit, we will be designing and building our own toys with the use of recyclable materials.

*To identify toys from the past.

*To compare toys from the past and the present.

-Blue Reader bags- please send these to school with your child every day.

-Students should be practising their phonics and reading their take home books on a daily basis.

-Please send school summer hats with your child- Hillsmeade school hatsare required to be worn every day at school during recess and lunch play (during all of Term 4). Students that do not have their school hat will be required to play under the shade sails area.
