SAKG

While Mrs Dennehy was away, we were very busy.
Lizard Lounge
The first week we made different habitats by the far fence outside the coloured shed. The 5/6s and 3/4s looked at what creatures need to survive and created many areas for lizards, bugs, and insects to live. There was some planting from tree planting day and we added some more pollinators that will provide shade and areas to for small creatures to live. Many insects have already moved in and we are checking daily for lizards. A small fence/barrier will be added for protection and the students have designed a sign for the area.
Bug/bee hotels
The second week we looked at what creatures are pollinators and how we can encourage more into the school garden. Each group made a bug hotel using nature products around the school yard and have hung or placed them in the SAKG garden, in trees, high in the chook pen or in the front garden.
Mulch
We are working hard to move the mulch from the car park into the garden. The trees and shrubs are growing well and the tyres are being replaced by the mulch and tree guards as the tyres will become too hot over the summer.
50th Birthday Event - Volunteers Needed
Alongside the classroom lead activities, we will be holding a SAKG Devonshire Tea Room and would love some assistance in the running of the stall. Sign Up sheets are available to complete at the Front Office or canteen window.
Thanks in advance!
