Year Three/Four News

A snapshot of the start to Term Four - Written by Isabelle C and Chelsea M
It has been a busy few weeks of learning up in the Brady Building!
In Reading and Writing, we have been learning about a type of poem which is called a Haiku. A Haiku must follow a rule, which is 5, 7, 5 in syllables. The three main topics are seasons, time of day and nature. We have been annotating Haikus in Reading to analyse what we think the meaning of the poems are. In Writing, we have been sitting outside and making our own Haikus about lots of different topics.
In Maths, we have been learning about number patterns. Number patterns are something that repeat and follow a rule, for example: 5, 10, 15, 20... or 3, 6, 9, 12... We also learnt about function machines!
In Humanities, we are focusing on History this term. We are learning about different celebrations around the world. We have brainstormed different celebrations that our family celebrate and have compared these with others to see how we celebrate things differently and the same.

A couple of reminders for our families:
- Home reading should be completed at least 3 times a week for a minimum of 10 minutes and recorded in their school diaries. These are checked every Friday.
- Please ensure all pieces of uniform are clearly named. This helps locate lost items quickly, particularly with our Swimming Program this term.
- Provide fruit snack in a small container or in a manner that it can sit on student tables for quick and easy access.
