Important Notes:

  1. 🌟 OSHC Art Gallery Exhibition – Coming in Week 9!

The OSHC team is excited to announce that we are working towards a special gallery event to showcase the wonderful creativity happening in our program!

Under the leadership of Lilah, with support from Bernadetta, Laxmi, and the OSHC team, we’ll be transforming the middle room into an art exhibition space in Week 9. The gallery will officially launch on Monday the 1st of December and remain open until Friday the 5th of December, giving children and families the opportunity to celebrate our young artists’ achievements.

We’re really looking forward to sharing this creative celebration with our families and the wider school community!

  1. 🏇Melbourne Cup Public Holiday – OSHC Closure Notice

A reminder to all families that Tuesday, 4th November is the Melbourne Cup Public Holiday, and OSHC will be closed on this day.

Please also note that Monday, 3rd November will be a closure day for OSHC, and the service will not operate. We kindly ask families to make alternative care arrangements for their children on this day.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding and support.

Important Reminders

  1. ☀️ Be SunSmart This Term! ☀️

As the warmer months approach, it’s the perfect time to remind everyone about the importance of being SunSmart. At OSHC, we’re committed to keeping children safe while they enjoy the outdoors.

Our SunSmart practices include:

  • Wearing a broad-brimmed hat when outside.
  • Applying SPF 30+ (or higher) sunscreen before outdoor play — and reapplying every two hours.
  • Encouraging children to seek shade during peak UV times.
  • Wearing sun-protective clothing that covers shoulders and arms.
  • Reminding everyone to bring a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated.

We kindly ask families to make sure children arrive each day with a SunSmart hat and to apply sunscreen before coming to the program. Sunscreen is also available at the service for reapplication.

Together, we can help children build healthy SunSmart habits for life — while still having fun in the sunshine! 🌞

  1. No Personal Devices at OSHC – Effective 1 September

To help keep all children safe and focused during their time at OSHC, we kindly remind families that personal devices such as mobile phones, tablets, and smartwatches with cameras are not permitted.

👉 Please note: This change is compulsory from 1 September, in line with the National Model Code and the new legislation 168 (2)(ha).

If a child brings a device, it will be safely stored and returned to their family at the end of the session. This forms part of our existing ICT, Television, and Mobile Policy, which is currently being updated to align with these new requirements around child safety and the use of personal electronic devices.

Here’s how we manage personal devices during OSHC:

  • At roll call, children will hand their device to the educator in charge.
  • Devices will be placed in a secure tub.
  • The tub will be locked away in the OSHC office.
  • Devices will be returned at the end of the session by the educator in charge of the middle room.

We appreciate your support and cooperation in keeping OSHC a safe, respectful, and child-focused environment.
