Community Fete
What a wonderful day we had at our Community Fete on Sunday! The sun was shining, the atmosphere was joyful, and our school and church communities came together in a truly special way.
The success of Sunday's fete is a testament to the strong partnership between our school and church communities. Working together, we enjoyed an event which brought families together, strengthened connections, and showcased the very best of our community spirit.
A huge thank you to all the families who came out to support the fete. Your presence made the day a success, and it was heartwarming to see so many smiling faces enjoying the activities, food, and entertainment.
It was particularly exciting to see some of our students setting up their own stalls and showcasing their entrepreneurial skills. Watching our young people take initiative, plan their offerings, and engage with customers was a highlight of the day. These are exactly the kinds of real-world learning experiences that help our students grow and develop important life skills.
A special thank you to Joel for his outstanding efforts in coordinating the fete, along with the dedicated Fete Committee. Events like this require countless hours of planning, preparation, and problem-solving, and their hard work made it all possible. We are incredibly grateful for their commitment and leadership.
Class Placements 2026
A strongly considered and prayerful process is undertaken during the fourth term in regard to the placement of students in their class for 2026.
Part of this process involves our parents and caregivers providing any relevant information to the school for consideration; friendships, ongoing issues with peers, etc. Students have also been asked about their friendship group/s and peers with whom they like to learn. Please communicate any thoughts or concerns that are still relevant, rather than those that necessarily related to reasons for placement in previous years. As a school, we guarantee that every child will be with at least one friend who they have nominated.
Many factors are considered in the placement of students including learning style and needs, emotional/social needs, gender mix, personality traits and the like.
Parents/caregivers are asked to provide us with any information which you believe is relevant by Monday 3rd November. Please seek to avoid making requests for specific teachers as we are unable to accommodate those requests.
It is preferred that you communicate via email to either
Tim Kriewaldt (Deputy Principal) kriewaldt.tim@goldengrove.sa.edu.au or
Jayne Zadow (Director of PYP, Teaching and Learning) zadow.jayne@goldengrove.sa.edu.au.
All emails received will be acknowledged.
As you would understand we take the process of allocation very seriously and believe that the final classes are the result of much work, thought, and prayer. It is important that you take this opportunity to share concerns or information as once classes are finalised, there is no room for change.
Oliphant Scence Awards
We are thrilled to announce some outstanding achievements by Henry Kumela at this year's Oliphant Science Awards. Henry has made us all incredibly proud with his exceptional success:
- 1st Place in his category (Models and Inventions)
- 1st Place in the Rowe's Scientific Regional Science and Engineering Award
Henry's achievements demonstrate his curiosity, creativity, and dedication to scientific inquiry. To excel at this level requires not only talent but also perseverance and a genuine passion for learning. We celebrate Henry's success and look forward to seeing where his scientific journey takes him next.
Well done, Henry – you are an inspiration to your fellow students!
Farewell Mrs Richardson
As we approach the end of the year, we share the bittersweet news that Mrs Cloe Richardson will be leaving us to take up a position at St Michael's Lutheran Primary School, Hahndorf in 2026.
Since joining our school community in 2011, Mrs Richardson has made an exceptional contribution. Her journey with us has seen her teach a range of classes before taking on the role of art specialist, where she has transformed our Art program with her creativity, and enthusiasm, and genuine care for every student.
We are delighted that this move to St Michael's – Mrs Richardson's local school with which she has a long association – will allow her to spend valued time with her young family while continuing to share her gifts in Lutheran education.
While we will miss Mrs Richardson tremendously, we celebrate the wonderful legacy she leaves behind and wish her every blessing as she begins this new chapter. Thank you, Cloe, for your years of faithful service and the lasting impact you've made on our GGLPS family.

STEM and Music Classroom Upgrades
You may have noticed some construction work taking place around our STEM and Music classroom block adjacent to the main courtyard. We are currently undertaking some important remediation work to address moisture issues that developed over time.
The original pavers and fill underneath were installed too high against the building slab, which unfortunately caused moisture problems. Our current work involves drying out the slab completely, carrying out any necessary internal remediation in both classroom spaces, and then reinstalling the pavers at the correct lower level. This will prevent the same issue from occurring in the future and ensure these valuable learning spaces remain in excellent condition for our students.
We appreciate your patience during this improvement work and look forward to having these spaces fully operational again soon.
Volunteering in the School
We appreciate many families giving of their time and expertise to volunteer in the school, whether it be with our school canteen, P & F Events, school camps, GLOW Week or classroom assistance. A reminder to please ensure that your WWCC details are up to date, along with RAHN and VSC training. Further information on our volunteering requirements is available from our website.
