Year 10 Mock Interviews

EMC was excited to hold our first ever Mock Job Interview events for our Year 10 Pathways students during October.
Mrs Issa invited community members from a variety of Langwarrin organisations, charities and businesses. We had fantastic representatives from Rotary, Men's Shed, Grace Church, LP, Quest Hotels, Milife and many more.
Students worked hard to prepare their responses to 7 set interview questions, ranging from the classic "tell us about yourself" to "share a time when you have worked well as part of a team". Teachers shared with them the famous S.T.A.R. method for composing their responses, starting with the Situation, then the Task, your Actions and then the Result.
The Mock Job interviews were held in the Resource Centre and students moved around the different desks in small groups. Over the session they got to meet 6 different guest interviewers, and practiced their responses to all questions as well as their greeting and handshakes.
Both students and interviewers agreed that the experience was extremely valuable. Many students were nervous but found the encouragement from interviewers and the repeated practice in a small group setting helped them to hone their responses.
Mrs Issa would like to thank the community members that gave up their time to come and support our students. If you'd be willing to come and be a guest interviewer in 2026, please pass your name onto the front office. We'll be looking for more volunteers who have their WWC for more mock interview events next year.
