Koorie Emerging Leaders in Schools (KELiS) was one of three finalists across the state in the ‘Outstanding Koorie Education’ category.

Koorie Emerging Leaders in Schools (KELiS) began in 2022 at Elisabeth Murdoch College. Since then, it has grown to include 16 schools in the Bayside Peninsula area. Schools take turns hosting events. These events explore leadership, belonging, and identity. Koorie students and Koorie Engagement Support Officers helped design the program. It has improved learning, engagement, attendance, and wellbeing.
The VEEA recognise the inspirational teachers, principals, assistant principals, business managers and education support staff who support children and young people to develop the skills, courage, and curiosity they need to succeed in life.
Winners receive grants of up to $25,000 to support ongoing professional development.
