Chess Tournament

On Wednesday 17th April a team of 12 Ballarat High School students participated in the Secondary School's Open Chess Tournament  at Kryal Castle.

Up against 19 other teams from both the government and private school sector - including Xavier College,  Bacchus Marsh Grammar, Werribee Secondary College and six Ballarat Schools -  we performed admirably and finished in  equal 6th position as a team. Each student played to very high standards against highly rated and experienced opposition.

Lucas Ware received a silver medal for outright 2nd position in the Y11/12 Open Category and Azam Mohammed received a bronze medal for equal 3rd position in the Y11/12 Open Category.

Out of 208 players and 7 possible points, 4 BHS students qualified for the State Finals in Term 4 at Penleigh & Essendon Grammar.

10th Lucas Ware (5.5)

30th Azam Mohammed (5)

44th Maximus Thekkan  (4.5)

57th Nuaym Haque (4.5)

Narrowly missing out was

Congratulations to all students on such great results!!
