Learning in S39

Senior School Bellu is sharing the learning taking place in their class…

We have had a wonderful start to Year 6 in S39!

Students in S39 have started the year with enthusiasm and outstanding demonstrations of our school values of respect, responsibility and resilience.  Year 6 camp was a highlight, students listening to instructions and boarding trams and trains and crossing busy roads in a highly responsible fashion.  I was very proud of our class and the way in which the students always conducted themselves.

Students wrote a memoir about a significant event in their lives.  They used emotive and figurative language to draw the reader in and help with visualisation.  Their memoirs were a pleasure to read.  Instead of a traditional published piece, students created a 6-word only visual, choosing 6 words that best summed up their written work.

We have worked hard in maths, in particular, setting up for success using our Pakenham Springs maths values.  Students have collaborated during tasks and contributed to class discussions regarding integers, squared, cubed and triangular numbers and factors and multiples.  They have shown resilience when learning new concepts and actively helped each other to achieve growth in their mathematics learning.

We created a class mission statement during our first few weeks at school, with each student thinking about their goals and how they will accomplish them during 2024 in S39. We used these ideas to craft a mission statement that describes who we are and who we aspire to be.

We are set up and ready for a successful year!
