Easter message

As we approach the joyous occasion of Easter in this Presentation year of compassion, let us take a moment to reflect on the profound significance of this weekend. Easter is not merely about bunnies and chocolates; it is a time of deep spiritual renewal and reflection on the ultimate act of compassion.

At the heart of Easter lies the story of Jesus Christ, whose boundless love and compassion led him to sacrifice himself for the redemption of humanity. His resurrection symbolises hope, renewal and the triumph of light over darkness. It serves as a poignant reminder of the power of compassion to transform lives and bring about positive change in the world.

As members of the St Mary’s College community, we are called to embody the spirit of compassion as Nano and the Presentation Sisters did in all aspects of our lives. Let us follow in the footsteps of Jesus Christ by showing kindness and empathy towards others, especially those who are marginalised or in need. Whether it is lending a helping hand to a friend in distress, volunteering our time to serve the community, or simply offering a word of encouragement to someone feeling disheartened, let us strive to make compassion a guiding principle in everything we do.

This Easter, let us not only celebrate with joy and gratitude but also recommit ourselves to living lives of compassion and service. May the true meaning of Easter inspire us to be beacons of light and agents of positive change in our school, our community and the world at large.

Wishing you all a blessed and meaningful Easter filled with love, hope and compassion.

Cocurricular activities

Congratulations to all students who participated in the various cocurricular activities across the College during Term 1. The Years 1-6 students have been busy in the soccer and tennis rosters and Years 3-6 have been taking part in the flippa ball roster on a Sunday night. I wish to thank the families that have supported their children to participate in these sporting activities.

Congratulations to our rowing crews who competed at the Head of the River at Lake Barrington on Saturday 16 March. The Head of the River concluded a fantastic season of racing for our rowers, whose hard work and dedication culminated in some commendable results, with St Mary's College winning the Junior Girls Shield and placing second in the overall aggregate.

On Monday 21 March students from across the Junior School took part in the JSSATIS interschool swimming carnival and they should be congratulated on the amazing job they did representing the College.  We wish the team the best of luck going into the STCPSSA Swimming Carnival after Easter.

Last week the Senior School students took part in the State SATIS Athletics Carnival. Again, I extend my congratulations to all the students who competed in the different events. Please see 'Student achievements' and 'Sports news' for an update of individual results.
