Youth Leadership Conference

I was very privileged to be able to attend the Youth Leadership Conference in South Wharf with my fellow Student Achievement, Community and Wellbeing Leaders. I was able to meet many amazing school leaders from around the state and discuss the many rolls of being a leader.

One of the important questions that was opposed at the beginning of the conference was ‘What does leadership mean to you.’  It took me a while to consider the many facets of leadership, and one notion that stood out to me was that ‘Leadership means to always put others before you and to always set a good example by being a great role model to others.’

Being in an environment with likeminded peers was very motivating and to share ideas about how we can better our school environments left me with a lot to consider.

The Conference really inspired me individually to help and support my community as much as I can. One thing that stood out for me, and that I noted was quite an empowering point for secondary school students to hear, was Wil Massara, CEO and founder of Youth Leadership Academy Australia, exclaim ‘Age does not define success’. I believe this point was one that resounded with all Student Leaders on the day. It is never too early or too late to begin your leadership journey!
