 Truth, Love, Service

We acknowledge the Taungurung people,  the traditional custodians of this land and we pay our respect to their elders past, present and emerging

Dear Families,

I am so glad to be back at school after 12 weeks travelling in Europe with my husband.  We visited 9 countries, walked 1 112 km's and have seen so much more of the world.  Even though we enjoyed every moment, it was lovely to be home.  I was thrilled to see the children's smiling faces on my first day back and be welcomed by staff and families.

I would like to thank Libby Hamilton who was Acting Principal in my absence.  Libby has done a fine job handling everything that has popped up in my absence and also thank you to Lou Frewen who supported her as Acting Deputy Principal.  Libby will be taking some Long Service Leave for the first 4 weeks of term 2 as she travels overseas with her husband.  We wish her a very safe and happy holiday.  Lou will continue as Acting Deputy in Libby's absence.

This morning we had our Easter Bonnet Parade and Easter Raffle.  Congratulations to everyone for your creativity, enthusiasm and participation in the Parade.  The children's (and their parents's) efforts were amazing.  Having our community gather together for events is always wonderful.  Well done.   Thank you for your donations of Easter Eggs and to Hayley Raglus for wrapping the prizes and to Louis for delivering them to the winners.  It was a very exciting time.

We ask parents to please be mindful of what time your children are arriving at school.  There is no supervision for children until 8:30am.  If you need to send children to school earlier than 8:30am, Before School Care is available from 6:30am.  Teachers are involved with preparation for the day and the office is a very busy place in the morning.  Thank you for your attention to this.

Stations of the Cross will take place in the Mercy Centre on Thursday  at 1.15pm . We invite all families to join us.  This is an exciting and  reverent time for our Year 6 Leaders as they walk with us through the journey of Holy Week.  As part of our Celebration of Learning this term, each class has created some work/artwork to display related to the Easter Story. Parents will be able to view and enjoy the students' work before and after the Stations of the Cross on Thursday. A sneak peak below:-

No matter what time of the day it is, I am always so proud to walk around the school to see all the learning that is taking place for the children at St John's.  I missed the interaction with the children while I was on leave and talking to them about what they are learning, how they are going, asking them who can they go to for help and what they are enjoying most at school at the moment is always a pleasure.  Here is a small snapshot from the Year 1-2 Art Class today that I popped into today.

Easter is a very special time in the Church year when we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus . Jesus was crucified on the cross, three days later he rose from the dead.  This event is a symbol of hope and new life for Christians around the world. It's a time of joy and reflection, reminding us of the importance of love and forgiveness.  As you gather with family and friends during this special time may we remember Jesus and his love for us.

Term 1 concludes on Thursday  at 2:15pm. This is an earlier finish than our usual school day.

School resumes on Monday,15th April from 8:30am.

Have a very happy Easter and a relaxing and safe holiday break.

I look forward to seeing everyone in Term 2.
