Only 1 week to go! Term One has been a busy and fun filled term for our students. NAPLAN is now done and dusted and we have been SO PROUD of the students resilience and persistence during this time. We have been so impressed with how they have adjusted to the expectations of Grade Three.
We would like to wish everyone a lovely break coming up next week and hope its a time full of fun and relaxation. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Literacy: In between preparing for NAPLAN, we have been working on the concept of 'questioning'. The students have learned the difference between 'thick' and 'thin' questions and we read the story 'Pierre the Penguin' to help support our learning. In Writing, we have been doing short sharp writing responses to give ourselves a boost in getting some writing down on the page quickly, building our stamina!
Numeracy: During Maths this fortnight, we have continued our work on multiplication and division, using strategies to work through problems. We have also learned about 3D shapes, naming them, making them and describing their properties. The students used playdough in one of our activities and then drew on the tables (gasp) to describe how many faces, edges and vertices they had.
Inquiry: The students have started brainstorming a disability that they would like to learn more about. To finish the term, we will be researching and writing down some facts and information about a disability they feel passionate and interested to understand more about. We have been impressed with the empathy and understanding that our students have shown.
Wellbeing: We have now established our routines with our ready to learn scales, which the children have taken to very quickly! We love how the children are starting to use the language more regularly. Now our next step is... what if we aren't ready to learn? What can we do to support ourselves and each other to be ready to get back to our learning.
During Term Two we are going to work on our learning plans. This will be a plan to help us re-centre and re-focus in order to reach our best potentials. Keep an eye out in the next few Connects!
We celebrated Harmony Day this week on Thursday! Harmony Day is a day to celebrate our cultural diversity, a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home. We made some lotus flowers with keys words with what Harmony Day means. We will make these into a display which will be seen in our learning area.
