Green Magpies and Green Gurruks
We celebrated Earth Day on Monday 22nd April. The Green Magpies decided that wearing a touch of green would help promote a more sustainable future. See some pictures below!
We also provided classes with a collaborative colouring collage which is on display in the Grade 1 area.
🌿Planting - We have begun harvesting the last of our summer crops which included tomatoes, strawberries and rhubarb. We are starting to look at winter vegetables to plant over the coming weeks and planted some garlic in our small tin garden bed.
🌿Charity Donation- After the Sustainability Festival, the Green Magpies decided they would use part of the money raised, to donate to a eco charity. We choose to donate $100 to the World Wildlife Fund which aims to support wildlife conservation and endangered species.
🌿Bunnings- The wonderful Mrs Davey has been working alongside Bunnings to support the Green Magpies with generous donations. They have donated 3 ground bird bath bowls and 6 butterfly attraction plants to rejuvenate the butterfly garden.
Thank you Bunnings for your ongoing support with Epsom PS.
🌿Canteen Waste Management- In the first week back of Term 2, Mrs Wicks had a chat with each grade cohort in the school about the disposal of canteen waste.
Thank you to families for their donations of coffee cups and succulents so far! We sold lots at the Sustainability Festival!
We are now asking for easy to grow...
~Herbs, edible plants
~Native plants
We will collect them in a container that will be placed outside the office each morning, with this sign.
The Green Nest is progressing so well, with the following projects completed:
*8 Vege Pods built, installed and planted out by students
*Outdoor classroom built and installed, ready for classes to use in such a beautiful space.
