International Students
Welcome back for Term 3!
Welcome New Student & Orientation
We're excited to welcome 10 new international students joining us this term. If you see them around, please extend a warm greeting and make them feel welcome.
Our International Student Program (ISP) kicked off Term 3 with a successful orientation. Thank you to all the students and families who attended. It was a pleasure meeting each of you.
Student Spotlight: Fiona’s working experience at Alstom
Last term, I had the incredible opportunity to participate in the work experience at Alstom, hosted by the Department of Transport and Planning —an eye-opening journey into the heart of their operations. From observing trains and trams in action at Cohort and Alstom, to learning about the maintenance processes, every moment was a lesson in efficiency and innovation. I also participated in the workshop led by Alstom's HR and program managers to discuss our final presentations that showcased our learnings. This working experience not only expanded my horizon, it also connected me with inspiring professionals and students.
During my working experience at Alstom, I faced numerous challenges that made me feel overwhelmed and tempted to quit, but ultimately, this experience was one-of-a-kind and extremely valuable. I understand that it can be challenging to take this leap, and it requires bravery to go through obstacles. However, your sixteenths are valuable, and there is no better time than now. We shouldn't miss out on seizing opportunities.
So, why not give it a shot?
You have nothing to lose, and you'll only gain memorable experiences that you'll cherish in the years to come.
Anti-Scam information
We would like to spread awareness of preventing scams. The government National Anti-Scam Centre warns of spike in scams threatening Chinese students and has issued a information sheet. Please take a moment to review the tips provided to avoid falling victim to scams:
STOP – Don’t give money or personal information to anyone if unsure. Scammers will try to verify who you are or use fear to make you believe their story. Don’t rush to act. Take your time and don’t give money or personal information.
THINK – Ask yourself could the call be fake? Scammers pretend to be from organisations you know and trust. Contact the organisation using contact information you source independently, so that you can verify if the call is real or not. If you’re not sure, hang up.
PROTECT – Act quickly if something feels wrong. Contact the police if you have been harassed or intimidated and your bank if you have lost money to a scammer. Seek help from IDCARE and report to Scamwatch.
