From the Principal
Welcome back, I hope that everyone had a restful holiday break and students and staff are invigorated for a great term of learning and exciting extra-curricular activities ahead.
This week marks the opening of the fabulous 2024 Production of Disney’s Newsies, signifying the culmination of an incredible amount of hard work and collaboration for our production team of staff and students. Over the break they were putting in the final preparations, with cast, crew and musicians busy rehearsing, as well as creating sets and costumes, and make-up. I hope that you are able to get a ticket to one of the performances to see the great talent that we have in our school and to share the excitement of the event.
Building work on our new Library STEM building also continued apace during the break, with landscaping and other final phase work being completed. We are expecting the building to be open during this term, for our staff and students to start using the amazing spaces that have been created. We have been very fortunate working with KTA Architects throughout the project, who have designed the fabulous new library space and STEM classrooms. We have a fortnightly site visit where I get the opportunity to see the progress of the works and I cannot wait to share the spaces with our community. For those that have been wondering about the views from the top floor, I can confirm that they are spectacular, especially the city views that we can now see. I am sure it will only take a few minutes for our students to check out the views before settling down to work!
Our Friends of Northcote committee have been planning for the Comedy night later this Term following the very successful Film night and Talkfest. A big thanks to our parents who have given their time for the organisation of the evenings, as well as those coming along to support our school events.
I hope to see you at one of the performances of Newsies over the next fortnight or at other events during the Term.
Chris Jones
