Enrichment Highlights

Aboriginal and Cultural Understanding

As part of the Enrichment program, the Aboriginal Cultural Understanding class had an incursion with MISEP (Melbourne Indigenous STEM Education Program). This program brings in First Nations Melbourne Uni students into schools to share cultural and scientific knowledge.

At the end of last term we had a session on fire. The students learnt about cultural uses of fire, including for maintaining the environment and preventing catastrophic bushfires. Another fun element of MISEP is that it is run by Ellen Tunumafono, an alumna of NHS who was part of the Class of 2006. Ellen does a great job of getting the students involved and learning both science and cultural knowledge from around Australia.
