From the Acting Principal

Dear Families

Term 2 has flown by so quickly and as a community we have enjoyed so many events and learning experiences, from camps, incursions, sporting activities, science expos to discos. We hope all students, staff and families are able to enjoy some time doing the things they enjoy over the two week break and look forward to welcoming everyone back for Term 3. Please remember we commence school on Tuesday 16th July, as our teachers will be undertaking professional learning on Monday 15th July.

Reports and Parent teacher Interviews

Last Friday, Semester 1 Reports were released on Compass and this week parents have been provided the opportunity to meet with our classroom teachers and specialists to discuss their child’s progress. Thanks to the staff for their efforts with this process, we hope you have found the reports and conversations have provided you with an understanding of how your child is progressing with their learning. If you have been unable to make a time to see your child’s teacher, please reach out to them and organise a time for this next term.

School Disco

Thanks to our remarkable PFA who organised our School Disco a few weeks ago. By all accounts our students in F-2 and 3-6 enjoyed the chance to let down their hair and dance for a few hours, as well as spending time with their friends. Events like these would not be possible without our parent volunteers, including our resident DJ Milky-Tea.

School Works Update

You may have noticed some of the temporary fencing has come down and certain areas of the school are now accessible again, we are continuing to finalise elements of the Shelter in Place work. Over the holidays, work will continue at both campuses. Thank you for your patience as these works have taken place.

5/6 Camp

Today our Year 5/6 students have headed off to Campaspe Downs for an overnight stay, they are looking forward to 2 days of activities and will return at 2pm tomorrow to share their adventures. We look forward to hearing about their camp experiences. Thanks to our teachers and parent volunteers for supporting this activity, without this we would be unable to offer these opportunities to our students.

Farewell and Welcome

I would like to take this opportunity to farewell, for the short term, Mrs Zoe Sutherland who will be taking 6 months leave commencing in Term 3. We thank Mrs Sutherland for her hard work and dedication. In her absence Mr Vin Landay will be taking over as the teacher of 1/2S, he will share this role with Mrs Jules Smith. We welcome Mr Vin to the Woodend Primary School community and hope he enjoys his time with us.

We wish you all a happy and safe holiday break and look forward to seeing you for another busy term.
