GRAMPIANS CAMP
At 7:30am on Monday 13 May, 147 excited Year 8 students and accompanying staff headed off for their weeklong adventure in the Grampians National Park. We wasted no time getting into activities on day one, after a brief welcome by the Silverband Lodge’s camp staff.
Throughout the week students had opportunities to participate in a whole range of activities that are not available in Mildura. We abseiled at Delley’s Bridge, hiked to the Pinnacle, explored MacKenzie Falls, rode mountain bikes, visited the Halls Gap Zoo, played mini golf, took on the high ropes, participated in team Initiatives, held an 'adventure race', practised at an archery range, and went rock climbing at the Watchtower. I would suggest that it would have been hard for the students to pick a favourite activity as they were all great.
Many students enjoyed the zoo and were amazed at the range and quality of animals there. Some students loved the bike ride and the opportunity to get wet and muddy. Others enjoyed the challenges of navigating themselves around town on the adventure race. No surprises that many of them found their way to the ice-cream shop! The night was also filled with a range of activities. There was a trivia challenge, movie night, night walk, campfires, and pamper sessions.
The week was filled with so many great stories of achievement, students pushing themselves to try new things, breaking down barriers of fear, and making new friends.
All in all a successful week and planning for 2025 has started already!
