CONTAINER DEPOSIT SCHEME

As we strive to create the best possible learning environment for our children and play our part in creating a more sustainable world, we are excited to share a new opportunity to contribute to our school's funds through the Victorian government's Container Deposit Scheme (CDS).

The Container Deposit Scheme is an initiative that allows you to recycle bottles and cans to receive either 10c return for every eligible container, or you can donate funds to an organisation. You can now choose to donate funds to WHPS.

Donations will help us contribute to a greener environment and raise funds for important school projects and activities.

Here's how you can get involved: Step 1: Collect Containers

Gather your empty, eligible containers. These typically include drink containers such as cans, bottles, and cartons that are 1L in size or smaller.

Step 2: Find a CDS Depot

Locate a nearby collection depot participating in the Container Deposit Scheme. You can easily find these depots by visiting the official website - see link below. There is a depot on Wellington Road near Springvale Road not far from WHPS.

Step 3: Create an Account

To ensure your donations go directly to our school, you'll need to create an account on the Container Deposit Scheme's platform. For our area you will need to download the app for CDS Vic East. Follow the simple registration process on their website or app - you can also get help from staff at a depot.

 https://cdsvic.org.au/

Step 4: Drop Off Your Containers

Take your collected containers to a depot. The friendly staff there will assist you in depositing your recyclables and generate funds (10c for every eligible container).

Step 5: Choose Wheelers Hill Primary School as Your Preferred Recipient

Once your account is set up, look for the option to choose a preferred recipient or organisation. Search for Wheelers Hill Primary School and select it as your designated beneficiary. Every container counts for a healthier environment, and every contribution makes a difference in supporting our school. Thank you for your ongoing support, and let's make a positive impact for our school and the environment.

PREMIERS READING CHALLENGE

Every student in our school has now completed the Premiers Reading Challenge.  This is a wonderful achievement for all of our students.  Thank you also to Miss Mason our incredible Librarian and Lamia, our amazing Library Technician, for promoting a love of books and for working hard to ensure another successful Premiers Reading Challenge at Wheelers Hill Primary School.

There are still a number of weeks left of the Challenge so students can continue to add books.  Certificates will be hopefully presented in Term 4.

SCHOOL PRIDE

Have a wonderful holiday break everyone!
