Last week, our school was featured in The Age newspaper, supporting the State Government's mandate for synthetic systematic phonics instruction in all government primary schools. We've already begun transitioning to these practices in our Masterclass program and will continue with a phonics pilot starting in part of our Year 1 cohort next term. We’re presently planning and gearing up for a whole-school rollout of these practices next year. I shared our direction with Deputy Premier Ben Carroll during his visit to our school last term, and it was great to discuss this with The Age as the announcement was made. I'm excited about these changes to our instructional practices and believe they will be an important step in our continued improvement journey.
It has been wonderful to see our students finishing the term productively and positively in their classrooms. Their engagement and enthusiasm for learning have been evident. Our teachers have done an excellent job fostering this environment, and it’s clear in our students' daily activities and achievements.
Semester reports, released next week, will showcase the progress students have made this semester. Thank you to our teachers for their hard work in preparing these reports, and well done to all students on your achievements.

Thank you for a wonderful Term 2. There have been many positive events for our community, including the Mother's Day lunch, Grandparents’ Day, and the Winter Solstice event this evening. There have also been times this term when our community has come together to support one another. The support that Port Melbourne Primary School families provide is truly special, and it makes me proud to be a part of this community.
I wish everyone a safe and relaxing break. Enjoy this time with your families, and we look forward to seeing everyone back refreshed and ready for Term 3.
