Farewell Mr Wakeling

As we wind up for the end of Term 2, we are preparing to say farewell to Paul Wakeling as our School Principal. We have a few events lined up to say thank you and good luck to Paul as he enters a new phase of his life, enjoying travel and time with family, including his beautiful new granddaughter, Isabella!

Parents and families are invited to attend the below events, you may choose to attend any or all of the events, it is up to what works best for your individual circumstances.

It is a sad time for us as we say goodbye, but a happy time for Paul as he embarks on this new chapter of his life!

Thank you Prep Families - Family Evening

Thank you to all Prep families who joined us last evening, Wednesday 12th June, to spend some special time with their children in the prep classrooms.   The evening provided a brief insight for parents into the delivery of curriculum within the classroom and also provided an opportunity for the children to share their learning with their family members.

We also took the opportunity to have parents gather for a social catch up.  It was wonderful to see parents gathered and getting to know each other, either further building on positive family partnerships.

Our thanks to our Prep team, Rosemary, Holly and Milena for leading the evening, to our Year 1 & 2 for their child minding supervision and to Nicole and Emma for their ongoing support.

A Fun Disco evening!  Thanks P&F Members!

We thank our Parents and Friends committee members for organising a fabulous disco last Friday evening!   We thank all families for joining us for this event and for assisting with the supervision of your child/ren.  All credit goes to our children for their exemplary behaviour and spirit of fun as displayed throughout the evening!   We thank Nicole Black and Rosario Corio for supporting the evening and lighting up the dance floor!

Families interested in joining the Parents and Friends Committee are encouraged to make contact through - parents.friends.standrews@gmail.com

Crazy Hair Day

Thank you to everyone for your support today on the craziest of crazy hair days! I am glad it is a one time event but I was so impressed with the way staff got involved and I am amazed by the creativity of the students and their parents!

Optional Child School Attendance – Monday 24th June - 1.35pm-3.15pm

Teaching staff will be released on the afternoon of Monday 24th June to commence their ‘Three Way Interviews’.

Children remaining at school for the afternoon block will be grouped in levels and supervised by staff who are not required at these Interviews.

Parents attending interviews may collect their child/ren from these level gatherings.

Parents do have the option of collecting their child/ren from their classroom at 1.25pm.

Collection of children assists staff by reducing the number of children being present in the afternoon block.

Please inform your child’s class teacher in writing if you plan to collect your child from school at this early time.  Parents do not need to sign out from the school office on this day.  Your written notification will be a record of student early exits.

Desktop Computers - Option for families

At St Andrew's school, we promote a culture of sharing and giving through our outreach/social justice programs, including within our community.  We also recognise the current cost of living pressures and how important it is for our children and their family members to have access to technology.

As such, we have a number of Dell Desktops that are fully functional but no longer required at St Andrew's School.  Given that we have limited use for desktop computers at St Andrew’s School, due to the staff use of laptops and student access to chromebooks and ipads, and the timeline of this batch of laptops being purchased over 7 years ago, they are now redundant.   Whilst they are old in technology terms they are still fully functional.   If you would like to be considered to receive one of these desktops for free, please email ecooper@saclaytonsth.catholic.edu.au by Wednesday 12th June and you will be added to the list.  Leadership will then draw names out of a hat once this list has been compiled.

Specifications:  Dell Desktop 9I4BJ0C  - Intel (R) Core (TM) i5-3470S  - 8G RAM - 58cm screen

Parking on Ester Crescent

We request that all families are aware of the parking restrictions on Ester Crescent, a street located directly across Springs Road from the school.  Neighbours have made the school aware that parents are parking illegally and as a result restrict the view of children and families as they cross the road.  Please observe parking signs as a matter of safety for our children.

2024 School Calendar

The 2024 School Calendar is available on the School Website. It can be found mid-way down on the front page under the heading ‘WHAT’S ON’.   We will endeavour, where possible, to remain true to the dates on the 2024 calendar. We would recommend that parents make a regular visit to the school website to see updates on all school events.
