🎓Careers

What’s Happening in Careers?

As you all know, Mrs Eaton has moved on from Mazenod. We want to acknowledge her hard work and contributions to the Careers Program at the College. Over the past five years, she and Mr Buselich have established alternative pathways for our students. We wish Kylie all the best in her future endeavours.

Year 10

What an amazing week we’ve had during MyPath Week! Aimed at Year 10 students, this week featured a variety of activities showcasing different career pathways, including guest speakers, the Careers Expo, Explore a Career Morning, and the Careers Carousel. Highlights included talks from Michelle Yeates, current Year 12 students, and MOB. It was exciting to hear the boys discussing different subject combinations and possible future pathways with their friends. I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the wonderful businesses and community members who attended and supported our events.

Year 11

We were fortunate to have Rob Roper, the Founder and Director of Trusted Finance, speak to us. Rob is known for his expertise in high-quality lead generation and engaging marketing strategies. He motivates small business owners, key stakeholders, and decision-makers to take control of lead generation and boost their bottom line.

Rob has built a following of over 1,000,000 people across platforms like Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Snapchat, making Trusted Finance the most followed Australian company in the Finance and Real Estate industries. In just 24 months, he has generated over 30,000 homebuyer leads, resulting in more than $700 million in settled mortgages, all without spending a single dollar on advertising. He inspired our students to recognize and act on their strengths. We are very appreciative of the incredible guest speakers who continue to visit and engage with our students.

Year 12

Individual University Consults

Friday, 9 August

Bookings have now closed and the boys should have emails confirming these times. The lists will be up in Mrs Bulich’s office if they need to check. If they need to make changes to appointments they should see Mrs Paduano. We thank Mrs Eaton for organising this opportunity.

TISC

TISC is now open.

Early Offers will start after the Semester One exams and most offers are conditional on meeting requirements. These will be laid out in their offer letters.

Offers will be sent out once per month from July to December.

If they are intending to apply for university, they will need to apply through TISC. Registration is online and a fee of $92 is payable before they can set up their preferences. These preferences can be changed as many times as they like before the offers round.

Offers will be out before Christmas.

The boys have had two sessions on TISC applications but if they have further questions they should seek help from the Careers team.

Perth Careers Expo

Western Australia’s largest Careers & Employment Event is open from July 25 to 27, 2024 at the Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre. The Expo will host over 160 organisations and employers with career opportunities for all ages. Entry is free.

University Information

The universities have all listed their Open Days Register using these links and plan your day so you can make the most of the offerings. It is really important that the boys get on campus and ask lots of questions before they make final decisions.

The Careers Department

Students in Years 10, 11 and 12 have access to The Careers Department. There is a huge wealth of information on this site, where students can explore industries in depth to find out more about the careers and industries they are interested in. It also has a resume builder, digital portfolio, virtual work experience, scholarship finder, job finder and micro-credentialing opportunities. So much to explore!

As parents, you also have access to these resources. Your account will be linked to your son’s account, allowing you to explore together.

There are two ways to connect to your son’s account.

1. Students can invite their parents from their 'Profile' > 'Your account' > scroll to the bottom of this page and add their parent's email address.

2. Go to the login page and follow the prompts to set up an account. Once inside, you will be directed to explore the site and link to your child's account. Your child should already have an active student account, so you will not need to pay for the platform. If he hasn’t registered, do this first. You will need to enter the correct email address according to your son’s account and your son will need to accept the connection.
