Student Absences
We would like to remind everyone of our school's policy regarding student absences. As part of our commitment to supporting each student’s needs, the Principal has the discretion to excuse absences for the following reasons:
- Medical and Dental Appointments: If appointments cannot be scheduled outside school hours, they will be excused.
- Bereavement and Funerals: Absences for attending a funeral of a relative, friend, or Sorry Business are generally excused.
- School Refusal: If there is a plan in place with the parent to address the causes and support the student's return to school, this absence will be considered.
- Cultural Observances: Absences for cultural observances will be excused if the school is notified in advance.
- Family Holidays: Family holidays will also be excused if we are informed beforehand.
Please remember to notify the school in advance for any planned absences. If an explanation is not provided within 10 school days, the absence will be recorded as ‘unexplained’ and noted on the student's file.
Thank you for your attention to this matter and for your continued support.
Babysitting
Hi my name is Poppy,
I am a former Elsternwick primary student and have experience with younger children because I am the oldest in the family. I am thirteen and currently in year eight, I love playing with kids and I could take them on walks, look after them while you need to go somewhere, pick them up from school and do fun things with them like baking, arts and crafts, sports, games and more. I live in Brighton and I am free most weekends, Fridays, Wednesdays, Mondays and also during holidays.
I would love to help you out !

Phoenix Theatre Makeover
We're embarking on a journey to refurbish our well-loved Phoenix Theatre, and we need your support!
We aim to give this lovely little theatre the outstanding makeover it deserves, through funds raised by donations from parents, carers and the community. Suggested amounts from families are either $300, $200 or $100, but any amount is much appreciated. All donors will be listed on an appreciation board created once the refurbishment is complete.
Please help support our students and the wider arts community and donate now.

Donations for the EPS Playpod
Hello EPS Community,
As one of our playtime options at EPS we have a ‘playpod’ shipping container located by Brickwood Hall. Here we keep a stock of different objects and materials for students to use to create collaborative construction projects and get involved in building and imaginative play.
Unfortunately, some of the materials in the playpod are beginning to succumb to the effects of ageing, and as such we are hoping that some members of our community will be able to donate/upcycle some materials for a refresh.
Below I have included some samples of what students have created and a list of the ‘hot items’ that students enjoy using each Friday.
- Tyres
- Old/broken electronics accessories (Controllers, Steering Wheels, Keyboards)
- Foam padded cushions / soft building materials
- Timber materials (Safe for young hands)
- PVC pipes
- General construction materials which are fun and safe to handle
Please bring any materials to the 2A classroom at Brickwood Hall or email me with any queries at liam.eddington@education.vic.gov.au
Kind Regards,
Mr Eddington - 2A Classroom Teacher
