A big welcome to boarding at WACOA, Cunderdin to our New Year 11 students and families and welcome back to our Year 12s (many who have grown at least another 25cm over the holidays).

As others have reported, we have had a busy week settling our Year 11s into boarding and then school. Our Year 12 Student Councillors have been exceptional in assisting our new students to settle in and learn the ropes. I am very happy to report that our Year 11s have taken to residential life with great gusto and are a great bunch of young people.

Saturday at Adventure World was brilliant, and we all had some great get to know you chats. Parents and students please remember that asking questions is how we learn and with so much information coming in thick and fast, we all need clarification at times. Our staff are here for you while on shift, we have the Residential number available 24/7 and I am only a phone call away.

Visitors

Just a gentle reminder to all parents and families, that there are no visitors to dorms without contacting the College and a supervisor escorting you to your child's room if that is necessary.  We take student safety extremely seriously and need to know if you intend to come onsite (apart from normal pick up and drop off). All parents are really welcome to drop in for a visit and a cuppa outside the Rec Hall but we would appreciate a heads up first please.

Traffic within the College grounds

We have a 20km speed limit in the College, and no parking along the left-hand side of the road near the green quadrangle and outside How dorm. We would appreciate all adhering to those traffic guidelines please, again our student safety comes first.

Returning from leave on weekends

We understand at times there are family events on a Sunday, but we would appreciate that all students are back in boarding on Sunday nights before 7.30pm. Students in on a Sunday have time to check in with friends, sort out the week ahead and be properly prepared for school Monday morning. That includes correct uniform, shaved, correct books and work completed. Students arriving late or on a Monday can at times be behind in their organisation and preparedness, and staff working Monday morning have to leave working with the cohort to let students into their rooms, find uniforms etc when it should all be done on Sunday.

Year 12 Leavers jumpers

All year 12s are currently trying on sizes for their leavers jumpers and parents will be sent an order form via a link very soon. The design orchestrated by the Student Council is really stunning.
