Staff vs Students Chess Game 

The chess season for 2024 has started with the traditional Staff vs Student game. This occurred on Friday 9 February, and there was a large number of students and staff taking part. Though it was not clear who the clear winners were, all that took part had a great time. 

It was great to see the high chess playing skills from the student players and this is a good sign for the season ahead.

The Chess Club meets every Friday, in the library during the second break. Players in the club can be either part of the representative team or be a social player. All players get to travel and play against players from other schools. Both experienced and novice players are welcome to come and take part. 

Fun Chess fact: 

The game of chess is believed to have originated in India, where it was called Chaturange prior to the 6th century AD.
