Year 9 Morrisby Career Profiling

Year 9 Morrisby Career Profiling

Our Year 9 students have the opportunity to create a careers profile using an online career discovery tool supported by the Department of Education and Training. The service is designed to help students make informed choices about subject selection, vocational education and training, senior secondary school certificates and further study.

Part 1 of this program involves students completing a 2-hour online assessment. This is made up of 8 timed aptitude modules and 2 multiple choice questionnaires (interest and personality). Our students will be completing Part 1 on  Tuesday 5th March. On the day your child must have a charged laptop that can access the college internet. If they are experiencing any issues connecting to the college internet they must visit the IT office prior to this day to have any concerns attended to. All students will need to know their @schools email address and create a memorable password to access their online account.

Following the assessment, students can access a personalised report outlining identified strengths, interests and personality traits. The second component of this program is a 30-minute counselling session with an external careers practitioner to unpack their profiles and discuss potential areas of study and work. The careers counselling sessions are scheduled to take place between Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th March. Parents are invited to attend their child’s interview. More information about this process will be communicated closer to the date.

There are 3 options for participation in this program:

Options 1 - Opt In - Your child will complete the Morrisby Career Profiling and then a 1:1 interview with a career advisor.

Option 2 - No Response - If we do not receive the consent form back your child will still complete the Morrisby Profile assessment (personality and interests only) and will have a 1:1 interview with a careers advisor.

Option 3 - Opt Out - Your Child will not complete the profiling or have an interview.

A consent form that must be completed by a Parents/Guardian and returned no later than Friday 1st March for your child to be participate in the counselling component of the program. A copy of the consent can be downloaded from below, or from the Compass newsfeed and hard copies are available in the Careers office.  Also, please see the PowerPoint attachment below for more information.
