FUN FACTS FOR CATHOLIC KIDS

When you go to church you will see a holy water font. People dip their fingers into the water and make the Sign of the Cross. The water is holy because a priest has prayed over it and blessed it. We do this to remind us that we were baptised with water and are part of God's family.

To make the sign of the cross, as a reminder of Jesus dying on the cross, you simply touch your fingers on your forehead, then to your chest, then to your left shoulder, then to your right shoulder.  As you do this, you say "In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen."

Father, Son and the Holy Spirit sre known as the Holy Trinity.

Trinity means "three" and these are the three names we use.

What is Holy Week?

Holy Week is the week leading up to Easter. It begins with Palm Sunday and is a week of reflecting on the events leading up to Easter. During our walk around the school we will stop at important events throughout the week to reflect and pray as a community.

We will not celebrate Easter Sunday at this time as this is a day of great joy where we celebrate the risen Christ, whereas Holy Week is a somber week, culminating in the death of Jesus.

We will celebrate Easter Sunday on Wednesday in Week 10 with an Easter Hat Parade.
