Welcome to Mirboo North Secondary College Careers

At Mirboo North Secondary College (MNSC), we are committed to guiding our students towards their future endeavors while nurturing their pathway focus from middle school through senior years. Our comprehensive approach ensures that students from Year 7 to 12 are equipped with the necessary tools and resources to navigate their career journey effectively.

Central to our approach is the development of a tailored Career Action Plan for each student, customized according to their year level. This plan forms the basis of our career immersion requirements, ensuring that students actively engage with various career exploration activities. From career expos to industry immersion experiences, students at MNSC have the opportunity to explore diverse career pathways.

Our 2024 career planning began during last year's Step Up sessions in December, where senior students completed their annual Career Action Plans. For Year 12s, personalised 1:1 Pathway meetings have already commenced, providing individualised support towards achieving their end goals.

Exciting opportunities await our students, with the Australian Defence Force visiting our year 9 and 10 students, plus other interested senior students on February 14th to offer valuable insights into the 300+ diverse career opportunities ADFA provide. Additionally, an afterschool Apprenticeship/Traineeship Information session has been arranged in March to cater to the interests expressed by many senior school students in their Career Action Plans.

In March, our Year 9 students undergo Morrisby profiling, providing them with valuable insights into their strengths, personal traits, and interests to guide their course counselling and subject selection process which occurs in July. Roll on to May, which will see our Year 11s embarking on their Tertiary Camp, where they gain firsthand experience of what Universities and TAFEs have to offer, along with a visit to the Victorian Career Expo at the Melbourne Showgrounds.

While we endeavor to keep costs minimal for career immersion activities, timely payment and consent from families are essential to confirm bus and staffing requirements. We encourage all students to attend and prompt payment to facilitate these valuable experiences for our students.

Our dedicated careers office, situated in the senior centre, is open to students and parents alike. You're welcome to schedule an appointment for personalized career and pathway guidance by contacting the school or reaching out to Nicole Hobson via email at Nicole.hobson@education.vic.gov.au.
