Kathy Fletcher - Deputy Principal, Senior School
It has been another vibrant and rewarding fortnight in the Senior School, with students engaging in a range of experiences that build learning, connection, and community.
Last week, our Year 7 students participated in the River Safety Program, an essential component of their transition into high school and an important life skill for young people in our region. A sincere thank you to our PDHPE team for facilitating this meaningful program with such professionalism and care. The students gained valuable knowledge that will support them both in and beyond the classroom.
On Thursday 12 March, we enjoyed our annual Swimming Carnival which is always a highlight on the College calendar. The energy, house spirit, and strong participation across all year levels made for a fantastic day. Thank you to staff for their organisation and supervision, in particular Jacob Cincurak and the Activities team. Well done to our students for the enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and camaraderie they displayed throughout the event.
This week, our Year 7 cohort has been away at camp, and as this newsletter is published, they will be returning from their adventure at Howmans Gap. Camps play an important role in fostering resilience, teamwork, and friendships, and we are confident they have had a memorable week filled with challenge, fun, and opportunities to strengthen their connections as a new year group.
Thank you to all parents and carers who attended the recent information sessions for Years 9, 10, and 11. We trust these evenings offered clarity about the programs and pathways available, as well as the additional expectations associated with the RoSA and the beginning of Stage 6. Your engagement and partnership are deeply valued as we support students through these important stages of learning.
Upcoming Events
College Photo Day
A reminder that College Photo Day is approaching. These photographs are primarily used for internal purposes, including student identification and administrative records. For this reason, it is essential that all students are dressed in full and correct College uniform and adhere to our uniform and appearance guidelines. This includes ensuring hair is neatly presented and tied back where required.
Families will have the option to purchase photos if they wish; however, the primary purpose of the photo sessions is for College use. We appreciate your support in ensuring students present themselves appropriately on the day.
Student Progress Meetings
Our upcoming Student Progress Meetings are an important opportunity for families to connect with teachers, discuss student progress, and set goals for the term ahead. We strongly encourage students to attend these meetings with their parents, whether booked onsite or online. Their presence helps build accountability, shared understanding, and active participation in their learning journey.
Further details about these meetings will be provided by Nash Clark, Director of Teaching and Learning.
Thank you for your continued support of our students and our Senior School community. I wish all families a wonderful fortnight ahead.
Last week, our Year 7 students took part in a hands-on River Safety Program at the Noreuil Park foreshore, delivered by Life Saving Victoria - and some even featured on the local news!
Across the day, students built confidence and essential life skills through practical learning, including CPR, basic first aid and vital water safety education. They also participated in water-based activities focused on rescue techniques and lifejacket scenarios.
We’re proud of how our students engaged with this important program, learning skills that will help keep themselves and others safe in and around our local waterways.

Every second Tuesday, our Year 11 students will be spending GO Time with our Year 6s as part of their RaVE program - kicking off the transition to Senior School in a meaningful way.
Through fun activities and games, our Year 6 students build confidence, form friendships and get to know familiar faces ahead of Year 7. At the same time, our Year 11s are developing their leadership skills, learning how to mentor, support and positively influence younger students.
It’s a win-win - strengthening connections across the College and building a strong sense of belonging for everyone.

Last week, at the opening of MAMA RAW26, two of our 2025 graduates were proudly featured – Lilly Anderson (Painting) and Asha Michael (Textiles and Fibre).
RAW is an annual open call for artists aged 16–21, showcasing the best original works being created by young people across the Murray region. Presented by Murray Art Museum Albury, the exhibition celebrates the unique perspectives and lived experiences of our local youth, with works spanning painting, drawing, photography, digital media, sculpture and installation.
Lilly and her family were beaming with pride on opening night. Now relocated to Geelong to study Nursing at Deakin University, Lilly made the trip back especially for the occasion. Asha was unfortunately unable to attend but was equally honoured to be part of the exhibition.
As part of the program, selected RAW artists participate in three workshops with the MAMA team and curators, gaining valuable hands-on insight into how a gallery operates and how exhibitions are curated. It is a wonderful opportunity for our regional students to deepen their artistic practice and understanding of the creative industry.
We congratulate Lilly and Asha on this outstanding achievement!
The exhibition is on at MAMA until 29 March, 2026.

On Sunday 15 February, several of our Air Force and Army cadet students participated in the 75th Anniversary of National Service at a ceremony held in Albury.
Over 280,000 young men were called up for national service between 1951 and 1972 with the last Nashos discharged in 1974. More than 200 died on active service overseas, and others died while serving in Australia. Although many young men were proud to serve their country in uniform, national service came at a personal cost for all Nashos, irrespective of the nature and location of their service.
Our cadets commemorated this special occasion alongside Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC, Governor of New South Wales, and Mr Dennis Wilson. The travelling Vice Regal Party also included Colonel Michael Miller LVO RFD, Official Secretary to the Governor; Lieutenant Commander Robert Valler, RAN, Aide-de-Camp in Waiting to the Governor; Captain Xavier Phillips, Aide-de-Camp; and Mr Martin Knut, Assistant Protocol Officer, together with many other distinguished guests and, of course, our local Nashos.
Well done to our students of 37 ACU and 412 SQN.

Last Sunday and Monday, our Year 12 students travelled to Wollongong for an exciting educational experience, joining Xavier Catholic College for a two‑day visit to explore opportunities at the University of Wollongong.
Students arrived late Sunday afternoon, settling in before the two schools came together for a shared evening meal - a wonderful opportunity for students to unwind and connect before the next day’s program. Afterwards, the group headed to the movies to watch the latest version of Anaconda, adding a fun and lively end to the evening.
Monday was dedicated to the annual UOW Discovery Day, an event that draws senior students from across New South Wales to the Wollongong campus. Throughout the day, our students participated in a wide variety of workshops across different faculties. Many enjoyed hands‑on sessions in areas such as exercise science, pre‑medicine, and health science, while others explored fields like engineering, psychology, business, creative arts, and law - giving them a valuable glimpse into potential future study pathways.
A guided campus tour provided the opportunity to explore the university’s impressive facilities and get a sense of the vibrant student atmosphere. Students also attended informative sessions on Early Entry pathways, scholarships, and the UAC application process, equipping them with practical knowledge as they begin planning for life after school.
Overall, the trip was a tremendous success - engaging, informative, and highly enjoyable for all involved. We look forward to offering more opportunities like this later in the year to support our Year 12 students as they explore their future pathways.
