I was delighted to attend both our Senior School and Years 3–6 Swimming Carnivals last week. These days are always highlights of Term 1 and, once again, they reflected the very best of our College community:

  • Students enthusiastically cheering on members of their House and their friends, celebrating effort as much as victory.
  • PASS students proudly stepping into leadership, encouraging and guiding our younger swimmers with patience and kindness.
  • The strong level of participation, with students entering events not only to compete, but to contribute valuable House points.
  • The colour and noise – banners waving, chants echoing, House colours on full display.
  • Parents and family members attending in support, adding warmth and encouragement from the sidelines.
  • The presentations at the conclusion of the day – ribbons, shields and recognition of both achievement and perseverance.

Beyond the races themselves, what stands out most is the spirit in which the days unfold.

Students challenge themselves, step outside their comfort zones and learn that courage is often shown simply by diving in and having a go. They discover that success can be personal improvement, teamwork or supporting a friend, as much as standing on the podium.

These carnivals truly encapsulate Trinity as a community – everyone contributing in their own way. Whether in the pool, on the sidelines, behind the microphone, recording results, catering with food, or ensuring the day runs smoothly – each person plays a part.

The events were exceptionally well organised and generously supported by our staff, whose commitment and care ensure our students can participate in a safe and positive environment.

Thank you to all who contributed to making these occasions such affirming celebrations of House spirit, participation and community.
