Year 7 Camp – A Huge Success

Our Year 7 students have returned from camp energised, connected, and ready for the year ahead. The camp offered a wonderful opportunity for students to challenge themselves, build confidence, and form new friendships. Staff were impressed by the students’ outstanding conduct, enthusiasm, and willingness to participate fully in each activity.

A heartfelt thank you goes to all staff who attended and supported the experience. We especially acknowledge Mr Waterson, Year 7 Coordinator, for his exceptional organisation, leadership, and dedication to ensuring the camp was such a positive and memorable start to the year. Photos from camp will be shared from Mr Waterson shortly.

Academic Rigour and Accountability

At Kinross Wolaroi, we are committed to nurturing a learning environment where every student is supported to achieve their best. In 2026, we continue to strengthen our focus on academic responsibility through Academic Catch-Ups - a structured, student-focused initiative that replaces traditional academic detentions. This approach aligns with the Positive Behaviour Policy by ensuring that any lack of care or accountability in classwork or homework is addressed promptly and constructively.

Students who engage in a restorative conversation with their class teacher and receive an Academic Catch-Up will have the opportunity to complete the required work before the scheduled session. Academic Catch-Ups occur every Wednesday lunchtime in Room 1. If a student completes the work beforehand and shows it to their teacher, they can avoid attending.

This model promotes student autonomy, accountability, and timely support. Academic Catch-Ups are not punitive, they are designed to build responsibility, reinforce academic expectations, and help students take ownership of their learning.

If a student does not attend their scheduled Catch‑Up session without emailing Mr Byrne with a valid reason, or if they accumulate three Catch‑Ups in a term, the matter will escalate to a Yellow Level consequence.

The Study Hub also remains open Monday to Thursday from 3:30pm to 5:00pm in Rooms 21 and 22 of the Bennett Block, providing a supportive environment for homework, revision, and assessment preparation while fostering strong study habits.

Lots Happening in Sport

It’s been an exciting period in sport, with our students proudly representing our school across a range of competitions.

Our Wiburd Shield Cricket team is in action again this week as they continue their impressive run in the competition. We wish them well as they look to build on their strong form.

We also extend our best wishes to students taking part in the NSW All Schools Triathlon, an event that demands outstanding endurance, determination, and versatility across all three disciplines.

Meanwhile, our rowing squads are gearing up for the upcoming Rowing State Championships. Their dedication and hard work throughout the season have been outstanding, and we look forward to seeing them perform at their best.

Good luck to all teams and individuals in their upcoming fixtures as we move into the final stages of the summer season. Keep showing strong teamwork, great sportsmanship, and genuine school pride.
