VCD Excursion
Year 11 and 12 Visual Communication Design students recently visited TarraWarra Museum of Art for an immersive and highly valuable learning experience. The day provided students with rich, first-hand insight into professional design practice and supported key areas of their VCE studies.
Year 11 students engaged in a detailed Discover phase, conducting primary research that will directly inform their first VCE assessment. Through site investigation, photography, observational drawing, and discussion, students were able to develop a strong understanding of real-world design contexts to support their upcoming design solutions. Year 12 students explored the Eva and Marc Besen Centre as part of their Unit 3 studies, gaining deeper insight into architectural design, professional collaboration and communication needs.
The visit was further enriched by a Q&A session with TarraWarra staff, offering students authentic perspectives on design decisions, materials, and cultural and social considerations. It was a great day of learning, with students gaining valuable knowledge and confidence as they begin their VCE journey. We were extremely grateful to TarraWarra for their warm welcome and for generously accommodating our students throughout the visit.
