Principal Team's Message

Nurture.  Innovate.  Celebrate.

Dear Students, Parents, Carers and Families,

Family Engagement Parent Teacher Interviews

I was delighted to see such a strong turnout at this week’s Parent Teacher Interviews. Thank you for taking the time to meet with your child’s teacher and for sharing your hopes and aspirations for your child, as well as taking the opportunity to connect with our staff.

Our team at Maramba greatly values these positive and meaningful conversations. They strengthen the partnership between home and school and play an important role in supporting every child’s learning and wellbeing. We are committed to nurturing family engagement as a vital element in each student’s growth and success.

Please feel free to contact your child’s teacher at any time if you would like to arrange a further meeting or discuss any questions or concerns. By continuing to work together, we can ensure a welcoming, supportive and successful educational experience for every child.

These students have a commitment to their school community, and a passion for making a positive difference. As leaders, they will work collaboratively with their peers and teachers to plan and implement activities, events and initiatives that will benefit not only Maramba but also the wider community. We look forward to working alongside them and offering our support throughout their leadership journey.

I would also like to extend our sincere thanks to all students who applied for leadership positions. We were truly impressed by the quality of the applications and the enthusiasm demonstrated by all applicants.

We will have a special badge presentation for our 2026 leaders on Thursday, 5th March at 9:00am. Parents are welcome to join us for a morning tea afterwards.

Young Learners

Over the past two weeks, we have been delighted to host two very special events celebrating our Young Learners and the strong connections between home and school.

Foundation Fun Morning

Foundation students and their families enjoyed a fun-filled morning connecting with one another in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Families took part in a variety of activities including bowling, egg-and-spoon races, chalk drawing, bubble play and the ever-popular giant parachute. The morning concluded with a picnic, providing a wonderful opportunity for families to relax and socialise together.

Year 1 Family Picnic

Our Year 1 students and their families came together at the Foundation Playground for a morning of games and a delicious picnic lunch. Students loved dressing up for photos in the photobooth and spending time playing with their friends on the playground. The picnic ended on a sweet note with a yummy treat enjoyed by all.

These events highlight the importance of building strong relationships and creating positive, shared experiences for our youngest learners and their families. We thank all families who joined us and helped make these occasions so special. Thank you to our staff for organising these events.

Am I being bullied?

At Maramba Primary School, we take bullying very seriously. Our goal is for all students to feel happy, safe, and supported. In last year's student survey, 80% of our students said that they feel happy and safe at our school.

At Maramba we:

  • We treat others with kindness and respect

  • We get along with others by being helpful and caring

  • We include others

  • We use kind words and manners

  • We keep our hands and feet to ourselves

  • We speak to the yard duty teacher if we need help

Bullying involves intentional and repeated negative behaviour towards another person.

We encourage you to talk to your child about what bullying is and remind them to always approach the yard duty teacher if an issue arises outside, or to inform their classroom teacher.

School is Better When Your Child Is There

We all want the very best education for our children, and the foundation for lifelong learning begins with regular school attendance. When students attend school every day, they build the essential skills, knowledge and habits that set them up for success in the years ahead.

Missing school regularly can have a significant impact. There is no safe number of days to miss. Each absence means missed learning opportunities. Over time, even occasional absences can add up, making it harder for students to keep up with their learning. Research shows that every missed day is linked to lower achievement in reading, writing and numeracy.

Attendance habits are established early. Children who frequently miss school in the early years are more likely to continue this pattern in later years, which can affect both their confidence and academic outcomes.

Every school day matters, even in the early years of primary school. When your child is at school, they are learning, growing and building important connections. School truly is better when your child is there.
