Wellbeing and Engagement

A message from our Year 6 Wellbeing Captains
This week at assembly, our Year 6 Wellbeing Captains, Ethan and Shashank, spoke to the students about what 'Safe Hands, Safe Feet' really means at BEPS.
They shared that 'Safe Hands, Safe Feet' looks like:
- Giving each other personal space at all times.
- Using kind words and respectful words, like asking someone to play and also saying “Stop, I don’t like it” when someone is bothering them or touching them.
- We also use our words to get someone’s attention, rather than touching them.
We play safely outside, like only going down the slide and waiting our turn.
Actions that are not showing 'Safe Hands, Safe Feet' include:
- Play fighting or playing rough games, because someone will get hurt. For example, if you are playing tag, you don’t hit someone hard when you’re tagging them.
- We don’t hit or hurt other people ever.
- We don’t use unkind words or call people names.
Going up the slide instead of down is an example of unsafe hands and feet.
The captain’s final message was, "At BEPS, we use safe hands and safe feet. We also use kind words and make safe choices."
