From the Deputy Principal

Rhythms and riddles
During this exciting time of settling back into the school year, we are all working to find a new rhythm to our days after some time over the break where routines and structure were reduced or removed entirely. It is important to recognise that this is a time of transition for our children and for ourselves! For students, there are riddles to be solved each day, like 'Where did I leave my school shoes last night?', 'What is the uniform I'm supposed to wearing today?' and 'What did my English teacher say about homework?' and, for us as parents, there are riddles, too. 'Is it normal for my child to be this tired/teary?' or 'Who can I talk to if I have questions?'
We recognise that you may have lots of questions and we are here for those (alongside your year group WhatsApp chat!) If you are looking for support or advice, contact your child's class teacher in Primary School, or homeroom teacher or Head of House in Secondary School. Our School Counsellor, Ms Sheryl Moncur is available, as is Chaplain Levi Cosh, alongside our Indigenous Student Support Officers, Mr Lewis Ward and Ms Madi van der List. And, there is no such thing as a silly question!
Remember to give yourself and your child/ren some grace. We all forget things. We all make mistakes. We all need help. And the best bit is, GSG is a wonderful community; we are here for you.
You might find attending the Parent Information Sessions this Friday evening (13 February) a good source of information and clarification. We will provide information and most importantly, we are here to answer any questions you may have. The information sessions will start with a focus on navigating the communication channels we provide: MyGSG, SEQTA, the school app and others. This starts at 4.30pm in the Library.
