EDUCATION WEEK: OPEN MORNING

Last week we celebrated Education Week with an Open Morning for families. This year’s theme ‘Spotlight on STEM’ highlights the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) in our everyday lives, in the classroom and beyond.

Education Week is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the wonderful learning that our students do each and every day. It was great to see many parents, carers, grandparents and special friends who attended the Open Morning and enjoyed some time with their child in the classroom. Students and visitors participated in some fun, hands-on activities together and were able to participate in the fantastic learning happening in each section.

READY STEADY COOK

Last week the Year 12 students participated in a Ready Steady Cook challenge as part of their Life Hacks and Savvy Savings unit. Students were responsible for planning, purchasing, preparing and serving a meal, working within a set budget. Megan, Matthew, Bronwyn and myself were lucky enough to be the judges of these delicious creations! Students were scored based on 6 key areas: teamwork, taste, presentation, creativity, preparation and budget.

Congratulations to all the Year 12 students who participated in this challenge.  The judge’s winning results were:

  • TEAMWORK – Creamy Chicken Pasta Bake
  • TASTE – Honey Soy Chicken Stir Fry
  • PRESENTATION – Chicken Fried Rice
  • CREATIVITY – Cookaroos’ Chicken Fried Rice
  • PREPARATION - Veggie Curry
  • BUDGET – Carbonara

Thank you to the Year 12 team for inviting us to judge such a high quality competition.
