Principal's Report
Term 2
As we move through the year, it is hard to believe we are already past the halfway point of Term 2. Students and teachers are diving deeper into their learning programs, and we appreciate the community engagement with our recent open morning and events across both campuses.
As we do enter the colder winter months, we are seeing an increase of illness across the school. This does mean that at times we are seeing frequent staff and student absences which may cause disruptions to some daily routines. If your child’s teacher is absent for a period of time, we do ask to ‘cc’ in the section leader when emailing so we can ensure you are responded to. We would also like to thank the whole school community for your proactive support if your child becomes unwell.
Education Week
Thank you to everyone who was able to attend our Open Morning on Tuesday the 14th of May to celebrate Education Week. It was fantastic to see all of the students taking part in STEM activities and sharing and celebrating their learning with family, friends, teachers and peers. This year’s theme, Spotlight on STEM, was a chance for our school to showcase the opportunities and learning activities the students at Concord School undertake throughout their time here.
Building Works
Our school continues to navigate change with the works that are occurring at the Bundoora Campus. The demolition of the old Secondary 7/8 building has been completed and earth works are currently in progress to level the area and begin installation of the new outdoor spaces. The first space to be completed will be the half basketball court which we expect to be handed over in June. The remainder of the works should be completed by early Term 3.
We are also in the process of final design approvals for updates to the play spaces at the Watsonia Campus. This includes a refurbishment of the exiting playground, an additional brand new playground and also a Nature Play zone towards the far end of the campus. The approval process can be lengthy, however we are hoping to get these works underway later this year.
