Enjoyed by parents, friends and students, the Junior Performing Arts Showcase was an outstanding success.
The performance was a celebration of the talents, strengths and achievements of our junior students through the Performing Arts. The program included a variety of Year 7 & 8 performance groups, including the 7E Concert band, Year 8 Dance elective, Production, Year 7 Drama, Combined 7 & 8 Voice, Dance extension, Percussion & bass and the Year 8 Concert band.
Congratulations to our dancers, singers, actors and musicians. You performed amazingly and should be very proud of your efforts. We look forward to your growth as you enjoy the performing arts in years to come.
On Wednesday 15th of May, dancers from Years 7-12 performed their solos, duos/trios and group dance work that they have created throughout this semester. The dance works demonstrated a range of physical skills and dance styles. It was fabulous to watch students proudly share their own dance work with our audience and dance alongside their peers. Congratulations to all students who performed. We look forward to our Semester 2 Dance Showcase.
Music students from the College Stage Band were invited to perform at the Annual Schools’ ANZAC Service at the Seaford RSL Cenotaph on Tuesday 23rd of April. This event brings together primary schools from the local area as well as ex-servicemen and women and local members of Parliament to pay their respects to the sacrifices made by the ANZAC's during World War One and other conflicts. Our students provided the pre-service entertainment as well as accompaniment for the Australian and New Zealand national anthems, alongside the Kananook PS Choir.
The Patterson River Secondary College Music Department hosted 35 members of the Royal Australian Navy Band, led by LEUT Dan McIlvride. This team of full-time professional musicians treated our music students and staff to a high-class musical performance, before working alongside our students in a series of workshops throughout the rest of the day. Our students had the opportunity to work with these incredible musicians up close, with many of our students taking the chance to get plenty of valuable tips and insights on how to grow their musical skills on their chosen instrument.
