Round Six Winners

Round six was another difficult round for most people. We had two people do extremely well and pick seven winners and only one person picked six winners. Of those who picked seven, Steve Johnston was closest to the margin (46 points) in the Western Bulldog’s surprisingly easy win over St Kilda and as such is this week’s winner of the $50.  Congratulations Steve.

Concerning the overall leaderboard, Cherie Fry is still leading on 41, Kasey Pass (Class of 2004) is second on 40 and there are three people on 39.

Round Seven

Round seven also looks difficult to predict with any confidence...

Richmond v Melbourne

Both sides coming off the bye get to play ANZAC day eve. Not sure too many people will be picking Richmond;

Essendon v Collingwood

Collingwood has won four of the last five ANZAC day clashes and will probably start favourites in this one despite Essendon being three spots higher on the AFL ladder;

GWS v Brisbane

Both sides coming off disappointing losses in round six. The outcome of GWS appealing the suspensions of both Toby Greene and Jesse Hogan could be crucial;

Port Adelaide v St Kilda

St Kilda don’t have a great record against Port Adelaide in Adelaide;

North Melbourne v Adelaide

This game is being played in Tasmania which might improve North’s chances, but probably not enough to tip them;

Geelong v Carlton

1st v 4th. This game is being played at the MCG not GHMBA Stadium which probably helps Carlton but should be a cracking game;

Fremantle v Western Bulldogs

The Bulldogs have won two of the last three games played between these sides at Optus Stadium. Fremantle will look to bounce back after three losses in a row and the heat will go on if they lose this one. A tough game to pick;

Gold Coast v West Coast

Eagles fans would still be very happy with their win over Fremantle and would consider themselves some chance against Gold Coast. The Eagles have lost their last three games played between these teams on the Gold Coast; and

Hawthorn v Sydney

Hawthorn had their first win of the season in round six but will be hard-pressed to get anything out of this game.

Finally, thanks again to all those people who have paid their entry fee ($50), for those yet to do so, details are provided below.

It really would make my life much easier if those people who haven’t paid could do so ASAP so I don’t have to chase people up.  I will send out a reminder email to people who haven’t paid (there are now only eight of you).

Payment can be made by:

Please note that as we use the FootyTips website to host our competition we are compelled to adhere to the rules of that website. These rules are available on the website but a couple that are worth drawing to your attention are:

1: If you fail to enter any tips for the round you will be allocated all away teams but the maximum default score for the round will be capped at 5; and

2: If you don’t submit a tip (or a margin) for the nominated game of the week you will be allocated the away team and a margin of zero.

Good Luck and thanks for the support.

Mazenod Old Boys Committee

Dear Old Boy Dads,

The Old Boys committee is after Old Boys who would be interested in joining them. The committee meets about 5 times a year and involves assisting a couple of times a year with Old Boy events.

The MOB is run by a committee of volunteers. They meet regularly throughout the year to plan and run events, take part in community events, as well as approve bursaries or provide financial assistance to students and members.

The MOB is involved with supporting the school through things such as:

  • Sponsor Mazenod awards (Junior Sportsman Of The Year, Presentation Night awards, some subject awards).
  • Donate to school for equipment such as music or sporting programs.
  • Guest speakers.
  • Provide Yr 12 BBQs.
  • Provide bursaries to students for extra-curricular activities.
  • Old Boy Basketball, Hockey and Footy matches.
  • MOB Golf Day.
  • MOB Footy tipping.

If you are interested or wish to come along to a meeting, please contact the MOB Liaison officer: logan.jeremy@mazenod.wa.edu.au
