Homework
It has been wonderful to see most families instilling a strong homework routine at home with the completion of Mathseeds each week.
The expectation is one lesson of Mathseeds completed a week (Sunday - Saturday). It is important to make sure your child is not completing more than one lesson a week. Please remember that Sunday starts the new week.
To help enhance your child's reading please keep up with nightly reading and fill out their diary. We check these every Friday.
iPad
Please keep in mind that iPads need to be brought to school everyday so your child can access all activities.

Homework
Establishing a solid homework routine can set your child up for great success in their schooling. In Year 1, it is an expectation that our students read 4 nights a week and that it is documented in their student diary. We would like students to bring their diary in daily so that we can check this off.
Every week, we expect our students to complete one Mathseeds lesson. A homework week begins on a Sunday. During the week, students are to complete one lesson. We ask parents to oversee the use of Mathseeds, as we have noticed some students completing more than one.
If you have any questions related to Mathseeds, please email your child's teacher.
iPad
In Year One, using iPads is integral to our student's learning. Please support your child in making sure their iPad comes to school fully charged. We do not want any child missing out on the educational activities that involve using the devices.
Reminders:
Homework
81% of our Year 2 cohort have completed their Mathseeds for Week 4. This is an amazing effort. Thank you for your support in instilling a strong homework routine for your child. The Year 2 teachers are hoping for their classes to strive for 100% next week.
The expectation is one lesson of Mathseeds completed a week (Sunday - Saturday). Please remember that Sunday starts the new week.
The other homework expectation is reading 4 nights for 15 minutes. This is to be written in your child's diary and signed. Diaries should come to school every day.
Devices:
Our Year 2 students really enjoy engaging with our programs (Maths Invaders and Reading Eggspress just to name a few). When their iPad becomes flat in the middle of the learning day, this can restrict their engagement. Thank you for your continued support in creating a home routine which involves charging the iPad with your child.
Toys
It is important that your child's toys remain at home and not be brought to school. They can be a distraction to learning and can be lost or broken at break times. We would appreciate your support in making sure your child does not bring toys to school.

Reminders:
Accelerated Reader
At this point in the term, students should have achieved around 40% of their Accelerated Reader Points Target to be on track to reach their goal. We would appreciate your support in checking in with your child about their AR progress. The best way to support them at home is to encourage them to meet the homework expectation of reading four nights a week.

Reminders:
Diaries
It is a homework expectation that students fill in their reading log each week and have it signed by a parent. The Grade 4 teachers check student diaries each Friday. This week, 62% of students brought their diary, signed by a parent, to school on Friday. Please support us to increase this number by ensuring you have signed your child's diary before they bring it to school on Friday.

Reminders:
Melbourne Zoo Excursion
Please ensure that your child is at school by 8:45am on Tuesday the 14th of May. We aim to start our journey to the zoo promptly after the roll call.
Devices
Please ensure your child is arriving to school each day with a fully charged device. The orange light will glow to signal charging. Students access their school programs throughout the school day on their device. They are at an immediate disadvantage if they arrive to school with a flat device.

Reminders:
Year 6 students are working towards hitting their targets and maintaining 85% or higher in their comprehension in Accelerated Reader. Your child should have achieved 40% of their reading target by this point in the term. The Year Six team have been supporting students to stay on track to reach their targets, but we would love your help! Please ask your child how they are going with Accelerated Reader. How much of their target have they already achieved? How are they going with comprehension and taking AR quizzes? Do they have a plan of how they will reach their target in the next six weeks?
