Brazilian Floods Emergency Support

Rio Grande do Sul, a state with nearly 11 million residents, is grappling with its most devastating climate event in history, and one of Brazil's most severe in recent memory. Floods triggered by relentless rainfall have displaced at least 408,100 people, with around 70,000 seeking refuge in temporary shelters.

The catastrophe has also claimed 116 lives across the state, with over 140 people still missing as numerous towns remain submerged. The toll includes nearly 400 injured individuals and affects 425 municipalities. 435 of the 497 cities in Rio Grande do Sul were affected by the storms – equivalent to 87.5% of the total.
