Principal's message

Hi Families,

Welcome back to Term 2 😊

We left prior to the holiday with an oval of dust and have returned to green grass throughout the school, it’s never ceases to amaze how things can change so quickly!

We trust all had a happy Easter and much time to rest and enjoy each others company.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

We have just received some very exciting news for Alvie PS. Over the past few years we have been in the process of researching and applying for grants to upgrade our school playground. Over these years, certain parts of our playground have been removed due to safety issues including tunnels, slides and a wooden fort. As a whole school we have been on a playground excursion, viewing and recording a number of playgrounds within the Geelong and Armstrong Creek region for potential designs elements to include in a potential new playground at Alvie PS.

On Wednesday afternoon we received a letter from the Deputy Premier and Minister for Education, Ben Carroll, that we have been successful in our most recent funding application for a playground upgrade to the amount of $508,953. We could not be happier with this outcome!

Throughout 2024 design and procurement of the project will commence, with the aim of works being commenced from March 2025. Stay tuned and we want to ensure that we have as much community and student input into the designs as possible.
