Year Three/Four News

Getting Mathematical

This week the Year 3/4 students played the Math game 'Closest to 100'.

In this game, students work in pairs, and use their knowledge of the four operations to make equations that equal or are close to 100 using 6 playing cards between 1 & 9.

We also built on our knowledge of fractions and decimals. This week, we learnt that the place value system extends to the tenths and hundredths. We drew tenths and hundredths and named them as fractions and decimals. We also played a game where we needed to make the highest number.

THANKYOU AND REMINDER!

The year 3/4 teachers would like to thank those students who have been completing their homework each and every week! We love seeing students reading every night and even over the holidays!

Just a reminder to families that your child is expected to read for at least 3 nights per week for approximately 10-20 minutes and record this in their student diary with a parent/guardian signature.
