STUDENT INDEPENDENCE

The Foundation students have had a wonderful and busy start to Term Two. Over the next few weeks, we are strengthening our focus on student independence.

We are asking for your assistance to ensure our mornings run as smoothly as possible, with minimal distraction to ensure success for all of our students.

Between 8:45 am - 9:00 am every morning, we have our readiness for learning session, and this is a very important part of our day.

Foundation students are strongly encouraged to carry their own bags to and from school, set up their own tables in the morning and complete their morning sign-in.

Parents and carers are more than welcome to enter the classroom if you need to see the teacher or come in to check out our recent learning displays. We encourage you to make prior contact with the teacher for important conversations where possible.

You can also assist by:

  • encouraging your child to pack and unpack their own school bags at home
  • supporting them in putting their own socks and shoes on (this will assist when we are at gymnastics on Thursdays and for when we have swimming in Term Four)
  • using a positive attitude if your child is struggling with being independent, we understand that for some it may take some time.

We really appreciate your support in helping to develop independence!
