Term 2 Week 5

Parent Phonogram Course

Over the past three Thursday nights parents participated in the Phonograms course run by our earning specialists Kate Malloy and Emily Glen. They were also supported by our Literacy Intervention teacher Tania Hosken. The sessions focused on saying and writing the each code, working through a number of spelling rules and applying them to write and sound out more unfamiliar words. We trust that the participants found each of these sessions purposeful and gave them a sense of how their child/ren are taught at MPRPS. We thank Kate, Emily and Tania for their organisation and facilitation of the course.

Shoe boxes wanted!

If you have any spare shoe boxes lying around at home and you would like to donate them, then the Foundation classes would gladly accept them. These will be used for future learning tasks which also involve construction.

Foundation Grandparents & Special Friends Day

On Tuesday the Foundation classes had their Grandparents and Special Friends Day. It was a very special morning conducting interviews, making special things for their time capsule and creating special frames to take home. We thank the grandparents and special friends for visiting our school to make this a highlight of the week for the students. It was lovely to end the time in classrooms sharing morning tea and stories.

Open Afternoon

Last Monday we had an open afternoon where family members were able to visit our school and classrooms to view the wonderful work and learning that is going on. It culminated with the Senior Choir performing in the courtyard. Thank you to everyone for taking the time to visit our school and their child's classroom.

School and Kindergarten Open Morning

With Education Week approaching, we have been advertising enrolment information for 2025 and our School Tours and Kinder Open Morning on Saturday the 18th May. The School Captains and SRC Presidents join Erin, Mr Shaw, myself and the Kinder staff to showcase our school and give an insight into what we provide at MPRPS&K. The tours can be booked through our website and are running at 9am and 10.30am with many bookings already.

Student Attitudes to School Survey

Every year we participate in the Annual Student Attitudes to School Survey (AtoSS) for all children from year 4 - 6.  We value student voice as a means to improving student engagement, wellbeing and quality instruction and were going to conduct the survey this week. We will now have students complete this at another time before the end of term.
