STEM

Learning for this Term

This term the Prep-2 students will be learning about Physical Sciences.

  • The Prep students will be learning about magnetism. During this unit students will focus on what items are magnetic as well as constructing their own magnetic toy or game.
  • Grade 1 students will be exploring light and sound. This will see students participate in a wide range of games including pin the tail on the donkey as well as make their own musical instruments out of craft.
  • Forces will be the focal point for the Grade 2 students. In this unit students will explore the forces of push and pull in the environment.

Nude Food Friday

On Friday Miss Middlin will be running a Nude Food competition. This competition is aiming to promote sustainability across the school. Nude Food is simply food that is not wrapped in foil, plastic or commercial packaging.

On Friday selected students will be allocated a time to survey classes to see how many have brought Nude Food to school. The class with the most students with the most Nude Food will receive the Nude Food Medal for the week.

Let’s see who can take out the title this week!

Every fortnight we will be having a STEM question for students to answer. The questions will be posted in the school's newsletter. These questions will not be compulsory, but will be a bit of fun and a challenge for students. Students can write their answer on a piece of paper and place it in the appropriate box inside the STEM room. At the end of the week Miss Middlin will do a lucky dip and select one student from Prep- 2 will receive a small science related prize. This week’s question is found below.
